An earlier blog post (https://www.glorianewton.com/post/if-you-can-t-play-with-your-food ) shows in great detail my process behind making these hexagonal paper mosaic coasters. I've made a few more sets in recent months. This one, which I call "A Very Brady Coaster Set," evokes an interior design palette from the 1970s, with bright oranges, avocado greens, and wood paneling. An old set of Restoration Hardware catalogs helped supply the scraps of various wood textures.

While I can't say I especially liked these colors as a child, nor was our home decorated with them, these coasters give me a warm, nostalgic feeling. Who knows, maybe 50 years later this combo will make a comeback! If not, those of us who remember can relive our memories of sitting on shag carpeting in wood-paneled family rooms, playing LP records on the hi-fi.

Truth be told, I'm in a bit of a mid-century modern craze right now, so expect to see more coasters in different palettes inspired by the design aesthetic of the 50s and 60s. If you love these as much as I do, they are available at my Etsy shop - just click here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1044161655/mid-century-modern-hexagonal-coaster-set?ref=listings_manager_table

Or if you have a color scheme you'd like me to use for a set of your own, please reach out on the contact page!

Just for good measure, here are some process and detail shots.
